The nonwoven disc is a safe alternative to brushes with metal wires, it offers a greater surface and leaves a finer finish, which can eliminate the need for additional finishing steps. The Scotch-BriteTM cleansing disc uses extra rough silicon carbide abrasive mineral. Silicon carbide is a very sharp synthetic mineral, commonly used for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation. Although it breaks faster than aluminum oxide, silicon carbide produces a finer finish. We have developed Scotch-BriteTM surface conditioning products with built-in nylon abrasives or non-woven synthetic fibres unique in their kind. The combination of abrasives and fibers creates an abrasive system that offers homogeneous results throughout the product life. This open mesh material is load-resistant and retains the high cutting performance of abrasive minerals by limiting fiber obstruction.
