These discs are ideal for a wide range of applications, focusing mainly on material removal, and are effective on many substrates, including metals, composites, gelcoat and white wood. The film support provides greater tear resistance than paper discs, for greater durability and edge preservation. For better results, use with random orbital sanding machine 3MTM Elite. 3M offers a complete line of disks 3MTM HookitTM fastener for workspaces where discs with adhesive support can be contaminated by dust or dirt. They are often used in applications where the disk 3MTM StikitTM can be too aggressive, as HookitTM discs tend to create a finer finish than sticker discs. HookitTM sandblasting discs are easily hooked to the support bearing with fixing (sold separately), can be removed with safety and ease and can be reused several times throughout the abrasive life. Glazed paper discs cut better and last longer when dust does not cover the cutting surface of abrasives. The proprietary composition with multiple holes of the sandblasting cleaning products expels the powder faster than the products with 5 or 6 holes. This composition does not require alignment of the holes with the disc bearing, making the disk replacement fast and simple. With the open coating structure, the abrasive grains are separated for better expulsion of dust and other sandblasting debris and to avoid obstruction of the cutting edge of the grains. The load-resistant coating allows the disc to continue cutting even in case of coniferous wood sanding, paints and other materials that would otherwise obstruct the disk and would compromise the sandblasting capacity. This helps to increase productivity and reduce material consumption. For maximum dust removal, use this disc with sandblasting cleaning pad 3MTM HookitTM and a random orbital sander with suction (both sold separately).
